Light Leaks & Busy Streets

I’ve been holding onto this batch of film for testing my Canon AF35M. Honestly, anyone who shoots film will tell you that when you pick up old, untested cameras, like 80% of your shots will be miserable and you get maybe 4-5 good shots if you’re lucky. That’s my love/hate relationship with film in general. But it’s always really fun to be able to look at the photos you took weeks and months ago that you forgot about. It’s like a little present every time.

These light leaks are crazzzyyy. I’m not entirely sure what’s causing them since I’m not opening my film door randomly or anything. But they also do add that vintage charm to it. I think Instagram has ruined the light leak look for me, since it kind of looks like a gradient filter done on purpose. Regardless of my intention, I love how the last photo came out.

I was thinking about writing a review on this camera, but I don’t really feel like I’ve shot enough on it to give it a good judgment. When you’re new to a camera, esp a film camera, there’s a slight learning curve, no matter how seasoned you think you are at using a camera. You just never know what the final output will be, and sometimes it’s really about shooting in a way that caters to these old film cameras’ different personalities. My first batch was like 90% unusable, but I also know I was trying to shoot in lighting conditions that just weren’t going to work for it. It’s not the most ideal way to capture a moment, but for like $50 I can’t really complain that much.
