Cozy murder mystery novels & chill

I don’t know about ya’ll, but I’m fully ready for Fall/Autumn. The end of Summer is particularly a nostalgic time of year. Something about all the back-to-school stuff popping up in stores and the transition of pool party floats to pumpkins and Halloween candy already. I know some people hate how quickly retail stores start putting in Fall decor when it’s still technically summer, but I absolutely love it.

I’ve been on a Riley Sager kick and have been reading all of his novels this summer. I finished Home Before Dark, Final Girls, and House Across The Lake. I’m now reading “Lock Every Door”, which has a bit of a paranormal flair and that’s the stuff I like. I don’t absolutely love his books if I’m being real. He has a knack for writing the most cliche of female characters — usually dumb and alcoholic. But I like his books for the campy plot-twists. There’s something very much “Are You Afraid of The Dark” meets “American Horror Story” about his books and that’s right up my alley.

It’s been a minute since I’ve been on a reading kick tbh. I used to have a hard time reading fiction but I think I just needed to stick to the genre I love most, which is clearly mystery/thriller/horror. I did pick up a few novels outside of those genres as well, but we’ll see if I get to them. My Goodreads is overflowing with horror right now and I am anticipating every single one of them.
