Anxiety Diaries 003: Self care.

These days I’ve been trying to be more mindful of how I spend my money.
As someone who is ADHD and deals with GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), it can be a struggle to try and balance the ways I cope. One of those coping mechanisms is retail therapy. I’m an advocate for treating yourself esp if you’re working hard and working majority of your life. But I think I always struggled with the balance. Sometimes it would feel like the only way to alleviate my anxiety was to buy something—anything to fill that void.

Something I really love doing is going to aesthetic cafes and treating myself to a cute treat and a nice cup of coffee. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with doing that but those things add up over time. I decided to invest in my own little home cafe. I got some cute plates, cute cups on Amazon, and invested in a Nespresso machine. Honestly, it’s been a game changer!

I will always ben an advocate for self-care being a priority in a world where we’re working 80% of our lives. For me, these things give me something to look forward to in the morning and make my work day just a little brighter. And in that same vein, I also want to work on decluttering my life and reducing the amount of things I own. This year, I want to focus on quality over quantity and really only keep things that are of high-value, sentimental value, and that I absolutely, truly love.

Listen.
