I think I belong in Scotland…

Edinburgh is one of those cities that will literally inspire you to write a book even if you’re a terrible writer (moi). Maybe it’s because it is the city that inspired J.K. Rowling to write Harry Potter or maybe it’s because there’s magic, witchcraft, and lore on every street corner. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that there’s a lot of history here and unlike some more modernized cities in the UK/EU, you can really see it everywhere here.

There are very little modern buildings and structures. Places like Paris or London for example, have a pretty good mixture of old buildings alongside the new, but here, almost every building within the city centre is quite old or still keep the same cobblestoned aesthetic. It definitely adds to the charm and magical vibes of the city. It also helps that the center of the city is the Edinburgh Castle, an infamously “haunted” castle no less. Many major cities have their monuments that make the city so recognizable, like Big Ben in London, The CN Tower in Toronto, Statue of Liberty in NYC, Eiffel Tower in Paris, and Edinburgh has a damn haunted castle on top of a steep hill. It also rains all the time here. So yes, if you love moody vibes, ghost stories, Harry Potter, and cool windy, cobblestoned streets, Edinburgh is a dream.
